The Astral 1

The Astral Realm - The Invisible Source[]

Much of Keonic philosophy involves two key concepts: The "astral" and the "stream". "Astral" refers to interactions with or origins from the astral realm, the energetically fluid and infinite source of all conscious experience. The astral realm is like a divine dream, continuously unfolding into new forms and yet home to ancient archetypes, symbols, spirits, deities, and all manner of ethereal beings. In a word, the spirit world.

Typically, a human or Apostle's psychic power is measured by their ability to harness astral power. All consciousness is rooted in the astral realm, and the ability to manipulate this astral flow is what defines a channeler. A mid-level channeler is able to shape and wield this flow in ways that influence the stream, or universal flow of consciousness that encompasses our entire reality.

While the Apostles are extremely adept manipulators of astral power, it is said that Keo's astral abilities are completely unparalleled. He allegedly exists between both realms simultaneously, and has mastered the ability of funneling astral power into his abilities. Whether this was always the case is unknown, and many question the validity of the claims, since Keo has not been in any kind of actual combat scenario for hundreds of years and is rarely seen in public.

Astral Exploration[]

Contrary to popular understanding, the astral realm is experienced widely by all conscious beings. It is the formless realm in which dreams take place, and a state of mind that can be accessed through intense meditation and the ingestion of certain compounds. It poses no great danger to the average human, though the same cannot be said for talented channelers who are able to immerse themselves completely within the realm.

The Astral is the source of all conscious experience, from the pinnacle of ecstasy to the pit of utter torment. As such, many beings and entities can be found that reflect these states of being. Slag itself is understood to have its origins in the astral realm, its source of consciousness being the dark deity Krozox. Just how much Keo and the Apostles know about Krozox is a mystery, as it is never discussed with the rest of humanity. Many contest whether Krozox could ever be destroyed. However, such discussions are not debated in public, as it is a taboo to speak of Krozox as a conscious being.

The Hive Mind?

The Hive Mind?

Within the Astral, there is an infinite expanse of ever-shifting and malleable reality. It can be explored, but it never remains stable for long. However, there have been documented cases of unnaturally talented channelers discovering regions of the astral realm that remain stable. Within these regions, the channelers could communicate with certain entities and interact with astral objects on a level that left lasting effects on their mind and impressions on their physical bodies. This proved to be extremely dangerous, and one channeler entered a permanent coma during one of these explorations.

Despite these documented experiences, the astral realm is still considered the most mysterious domain conceivable.
