Summary[]
Heptin has had it off rough from the start. A lush planet with much of it’s exotic surface unexplored, Heptin is a dense, green world composed of many continents of canopied jungles and rainforests. Thousands of tropical, volcanic island chains rise from it’s clear, shallow oceans. Sweltering temperatures, constant rainfall, raging monsoons and most of all, extremely diverse yet deadly wildlife and fauna made life on Heptin a tricky venture.
Nevertheless, Heptin quickly became a major economic, mercantile, and trading center for humanity, particularly in the food and pharmaceutical industry. It unfortunately also became a haven for drug production and illegal trade. Despite its share of criminal activity, Heptin existed for decades as an exciting destination for the multiplex’s more daring scientists; bizarre plant and animal life captivated the scientific community, and a special interest was taken in a particularly intelligent marine species living in Heptin’s oceans.
Things took a turn for the worse on Heptin, however, after the fall of Kynon. The vast majority of survivors from the fallen planet were relocated to the largely unpopulated Heptin. Colonies were built and expanded in a rush, and the resulting infrastructure was not stable enough to support the population. Conflict over resources soon broke out, and criminal activity doubled in proportion. Though Heptin is still revered as a Garden of Eden to some, it is considered a jungle hell to many of its indignant and struggling inhabitants.
Many consider Heptin the most mysterious planet in the multiplex. An infinitesimally small number of its animal and plant inhabitants have been discovered and named. Rumors of intelligent life and disease-curing miracle plants run rampant among scientists and soldiers alike. As a result of its value and its vulnerability to a mass corruption event, the Apostles have placed a disproportionate amount of security on and around Heptin. It is nearly impossible to land on the planet undetected, and every ship requesting access to the planet is thoroughly searched. Nevertheless, there have been several major outbreaks that took years to contain. Many consider the planet a ticking time bomb due to it's high concentration of conscious life-forms, which make it a prime target for slag.
